Visa Requirements
All non-residents require visas for India , which must be obtained prior to departure. Tourist visas for British passport holders are usually valid for 6 months from the date of issue and currently costs £35.00 per person. Passports must have at least 2 blank pages and be valid for 6 months after your return from India .

Health
Local medical facilities are not comparable to those in the UK , especially in more remote areas. However, in the major cities private medical care is available, but is expensive. In the case of psychiatric illness, specialised treatment may not be available outside major cities. There are many diseases common to India . You should take care with your water and food hygiene. You should drink or use only boiled or bottled water and avoid ice in drinks. If you suffer from diarrhoea during a visit to India you should seek immediate medical attention. Mosquito-borne diseases , such as malaria, dengue and chikungunya affect most of India.

Insurance
We strongly recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling. You should check any exclusion, and that your policy covers you for all the activities you want to undertake.
